Open edition photo and poster orders: While I have some inventory, most items are printed after I receive a cleared payment from you. Although I prefer my photographs to be large enough to print as posters, this doesn’t always happen. Sometimes only a piece of a photo turns out wonderfully. So, I’ve decided to print the pieces as ACEO’s. Only 1 photo of each image will be made instead of an open edition. Authenticity: These photos are signed and numbered on the back and printed on semi-gloss photo paper, which resists finger prints. Each comes with a tiny COA (Certificate of Authenticity). Size: trimmed to 2.5"x3.5" (trading card size). They are currently available at my Art Fire store.

Shane’s Monarch Book, 2nd Edition My son loves small books and he wanted a picture book of the monarchs. So I made one ACEO sized. This 14 page book is printed on heavy glossy paper and has photos showing the metamorphosis cycle. I let Shane help pick the photos, so some are different from the poster. Unlike the 1st edition, the 2nd edition has descriptive text with the photos. 2.5"x3.5". Printed on 48lb. HP glossy brochure paper. I assemble these by hand.

Monarch Identification Bookmark/Chart This 2-sided chart can be used to identify the sex of adult butterflies, the instar stages of caterpillars and to help find monarch eggs. We use it during the summer to track the progress of the monarchs we’ve raised and released as well as charting the monarchs at the sites we’ve monitored. You can also use it as a bookmark. It is printed on 48lb. brochure paper and laminated. 7 5/8" x 3".

This educational poster includes 33 photos with commentary that highlight the differences between the sexes, an example of common milkweed, a monarch egg hatching, a caterpillar shedding its skin, the 5 instar stages, a caterpillar changing to a chrysalis, the changes in the chrysalis, and the butterfly emerging. Perfect for teachers, clubs and monarch/butterfly buffs!
For 8.5"x11" and 11"x17" I use 48lb. glossy paper, which is lighter weight than the paper I use for the giclee prints. 13"x19" Posters are printed by me on 6.5mil semi-gloss paper, which is also lighter weight than the paper I use for the giclee prints.

All photos and posters are open edition. Note that the white border will not be visible if the photo or poster is matted.. All of the photos below were taken with my Nikon D90.

New Monarch Butterfly Chrysalis: What a beautiful gem of nature! This pupa (chrysalis) is 24 hours old and is a lovely transluscent jade green with black and metallic gold accents.

Monarch Chrysalis Near Eclosion: After almost 2 weeks as a chrysalis, the monarch butterfly inside is visible. This butterfly emerged (eclosed) within an hour of taking this photo.

Giclee Photos: Giclee (zhee-clay) is a French word meaning a spray or a spurt of liquid. While any inkjet printer could fall in this category, some people say it has to be at least a 6 ink printer and others say the minimum is 8 inks. My printer has 9 inks. My photos are made on a museum quality semi-gloss photo paper (which has less problems with finger prints) using my professional giclee printer. Older photos may be printed with high gloss paper. According to the manufacturer, the prints have a life span of at least 105 years. The photos should be handled with care from the edges and should be kept away from heat, humidity and direct sunlight.
Posters: Posters are printed on semi-gloss or glossy photo paper, depending on what I have in stock. The paper is lighter weight than giclee paper. All posters have a copyright notice (eg: ©2009 Valerie Evanson • www.evansonart.com) in small print, usually in the lower left hand corner of the image. The white border will not show if you mat the posters.
Giclees: Giclees are printed on oversized paper for easier handling and matting: 5"x7" image is printed on 5.5"x8.5" paper, and 8"x10" image is printed on 8.5"x11" paper. Giclees have a copyright notice (eg: ©2009 Valerie Evanson • www.evansonart.com • open edition giclee) that is NOT visible when matted.
Matting: none. Giclees and posters are printed so the image fits a standard mat without losing important parts of the image. 5"x7" fits an 8"x10" mat, 8"x10" fits an 11"x14" mat. 11"x17" and 13"x19" posters fit an 18"x24" mat, just make sure you get the right window size (hole for the art) for your poster.
