These photos are about texture, composition, color, light and/or pattern. What was once ordinary is now abstract. Some photos were taken with my Sony F828 and those may have been altered in the camera by using the solarize setting. The others were taken with my Nikon D90 and altered using my computer. Macro photos (close-ups) may not have been altered, but are abstract of their own accord. ACEO (2.5"x3.5") 1of1 photos are limited editions. All other photos photos and posters are open edition. Note that the white border will not be visible if the photo or poster is matted. The examples shown in each listing below are the 8"x10" giclees. If the 13"x19" poster has a different design, it will be shown below the 8"x10". More info on giclees vs. posters is at the bottom of the page.

Mountain Bike Ride Dreamscape Photo: Since Joel and I are into mountain and road biking, I had to alter at least one biking photo. The photo was taken during the fall, which helped add to cool colors. The way the photo turned out makes me feel like it’s a dream. Also sold at: Cafe Press • Fine Art America • Zazzle |

Ghost of the Turkey Buzzard No1 Photo: I decided to investigate some of the old ruins at Valley Forge and found this vulture. I shot through the chain link fence with my Nikon D90 to get this shot. Several of them live inside this old barn. Inspired by the Halloween season, I created this ghost-like image. Also sold at: Fine Art America |

Cat’s Eye Abstract Photo: Max is our black cat and he has amazing green eyes (yes, he is the cat in my logo). I worked with several photos of Max and his iris turned out the coolest in this one. Also sold at: Fine Art America |

Raspberry and Green Abstract Photo: In the beginning this was photo of moss that was growing in my yard. Sometimes we treat our yard with lime to get rid of the moss, but for the most part, my theory of lawn care is that if it is green and not poison ivy or a thistle, it can stay. Helps the biodiversity you know. Also sold at: Fine Art America |

Old Ash Tree Stump Abstract Photo: This photo is a piece of a panaramic shot that I took of our ash tree stump and then altered. If you would like the full verison, you can purchase a print from Fine Art America. Also sold at: Cafe Press • Fine Art America |

Psychedelic Cows Photo: I decided to tinker with this photo just for the fun of it and I love the way the grass turned out. My Mom’s parents were dairy farmers, so cows are sometimes subjects for my artwork. I spent many happy childhood days roaming about the farm. Also sold at: Fine Art America |

Bird Skeleton Abstract No2 Photo: I took this photo a few years ago of a bird that had gotten trapped in one of our window wells and I decided to rework it in 2009. The bird is tangled in a cob web. I used digital effects in my camera and PC. There are 3 versions of this photo. The No1 (which is similar to this one) was sold as a 1of1 ACEO photo and is not available for resale. Also sold at: Fine Art America |

Giclees: Giclee (zhee-clay) is a French word meaning a spray or a spurt of liquid and ususally infers that the print or photo is archival. My giclees are printed on a museum quality semi-gloss photo paper (which has less problems with finger prints) using HP ink. Older giclees may be printed on high gloss photo paper. According to the manufacturer, the prints have a life span of at least 105 years. Giclees are printed on oversized paper for easier handling and matting: 5"x7" image is printed on 5.5"x8.5" paper, and 8"x10" image is printed on 8.5"x11" paper. Giclees have a copyright notice (eg: ©2009 Valerie Evanson • www.evansonart.com • open edition giclee) that is NOT visible when matted. See below examples below.
Posters: Posters are printed on semi-gloss photo paper. Older posters may be printed on high gloss photo paper. All posters have a copyright notice (eg: ©2009 Valerie Evanson • www.evansonart.com) in small print, usually in the lower left hand corner of the image. The white border will not show if you mat the posters. See below examples below.
Matting: is recommended, but not offered. Giclees and posters are printed so the image fits a standard mat without losing important parts of the image. 5"x7" fits an 8"x10" mat, 8"x10" fits an 11"x14" mat. 13"x19" posters fit an 18"x24" mat, just make sure you get the right window size (hole for the art) for your poster. Some matted giclees/posters maybe available on the Discontinued and Clearance Art page.
Handling: Giclees and posters should be handled with care from the edges and should be kept away from heat, humidity and direct sunlight. For more info on artwork care, see the Artwork Care & ACEO Display page.
Sizing and Copyright Notice: Different sizes will show more or less of the image as shown below. You can also see where the copyright notice is located. Note: this does not apply to the 13"x19" posters with graphics/quotes.
